We Want to Go to There: The Giant Roller Coaster Staircase
Is it a roller coaster? Is a staircase? Um, well, what you see above is actually a combination of both. Oh, and it's also an artwork.
Blog Spot Cool Stuff spotted this...cool stuff...and now we're obsessed.
Sitting in the German town of Duisburg, about an hour outside of Düsseldorf, this interactive sculpture encourages the public to get up and walk its rails. There'll be no roller coaster cars barreling down the track towards you, as the entire thing consists of good old steps. In fact, the piece's name, "The Turtle and Tiger," plays with this:

Britney's Working Holiday
For Britney Spears, this weekend brought all work and no play. While her documentary "For The Record" was showing in the US, Spears performed on Britain's popular TV show "X Factor" (creators of Leona Lewis) and at the Bambi Awards where she was given the Best International Pop Star award.
So what were our other favorite stars up to this weekend? The Cruises and Beckhams took New York together even though Katie Holmes had to work all weekend--er, perform in "All My Sons." Miley Cyrus hit the Big Apple as well, although we hope she's not moving here! Divorced stars Ryan Phillipe and Reese Witherspoon broke bread together with their kids for the holiday, while Alex Rodriguez left his kids in New York while he took in a Madonna concert in Miami. Demi, Ashton and Bruce also celebrated together, and we know they're all friends, but that's kind of creepy.
Will Smith took his crew to Hawaii and Michael Phelps took his new girlfriend, a waitress in Vegas, home to Maryland to meet Mom. And Eva Longoria set tongues wagging when she attended a wedding by herself. Have we all had enough vacation yet?

Equal Opportunity Intoxication

Ever considered what'd be like to pick up a bottle of beer and not know what brand it was before you took the first swallow? Enter the life of a blind person--or so a German beer manufacturer claims (we think the blind probably know what kind of beer they've ordered, but let's just go with the marketing). This problem has been solved with the release of the first beer bottles with Braille labels.
The socially-conscious Uerige beer company in Düsseldorf recently released the newly labeled bottles for this niche market. And they found an activist to jump on the promotion bandwagon and say:
For blind people every drink is actually a lucky dip. You often have no idea what's about to go in your mouth. But with this bottle you are clearly told what it is - and that's fabulous.Well, we can see, but we'll take any excuse to try a new kind of beer. You don't have to be able to read Braille to know it's Uerige: you just need to feel that there's Braille there. It's the only brand with it.
