Dogs Make Great Souvenir T-Shirt Salesmen

April 14, 2009 at 6:26 PM | by juliana | 0 Comments

Dear owners of souvenir gift shops across the world,

Are you having trouble moving inventory of pink babydoll t-shirts with your city's name written across the front? Are sales for ballcaps, sweatshirts, bumper stickers, pens, pencils, snowglobes, souvenir shot glasses and the like slowing down? Here's a Jaunted approved suggestion: hire a cute pug to sit behind the cash register and watch your sales instantly skyrocket!*

We found this doggie perched on a shelf at a gift shop in Carmel, California, one of the most dog-friendly cities in the world. We stumbled into this store out of boredom but the pug convinced us to buy two shirts that were on sale for $5 a piece. Hopefully, he got a cut of that sale in Milkbones.

Have your own travel snapshots to share? Drop them in the Jaunted Flickr Pool.

As some of us just returned from a weekend sojourn in NorCal, we thought it absolutely essential to fill you in on an unknown (we think) deal.

If you're looking to spend the night in rich man's heaven, a.k.a. Carmel-By-the-Sea, and can't shell out between $150-$200 for a charming B&B, check out The Homestead Inn-above-(no site-but phone is 831-624-4119). With separate cottages that cover the basics and a location a few blocks from the beach and downtown, you'll feel super smug with your popped Lacoste polo that you're only paying $85/night compared to everyone else's tourist rate. The rooms are quaint, clean, basic and private. It's got a gorgeous garden in front and a really helpful staff too.

One of the best things about the ol' Homestead is that the property itself is owned by Mission Ranch, the luxe ranch down the street owned by Clint Eastwood. Rooms there run about $110-$265, but if you stay at the Homestead you get your included delicious breakfast at Mission Ranch, and can hang out and look around the awesome property. It's also got the quite the lively Piano Bar at night, where the locals have said sometimes the karoake challenges can get kinda crazy.

Maybe you and Clint can do a duet?
