Active Travel: Night Vision in Brecon Beacons National Park

October 16, 2007 at 11:30 AM | by jnaw | 0 Comments

We've done our fair share of hiking and biking when it comes to active travel. One thing we haven't tried? Night navigation. But adventure guides Alvin Nicholas and Kieron Mullins have you covered.

On November 11 they'll be taking hikers on a five-mile trek along one of Brecon Beacons National Park's famous mountain ridges where many backpackers have lost their way in the mist and fog. Alvin and Kieron will teach evening hikers about night time and low-visibility micro-navigation techniques. And, they'll even throw in some spooky folklore for good measure.

Participants should bring head lamps, flashlights, suitable clothing, a map and a compass. But we also suggest packing those night vision glasses--you know, just in case.
