If you plan to travel through Newport Beach in Orange County, you have to stop in Balboa Island. While many tourists visit the man-made island to shop the store-lined streets, the reason to go is for the frozen treats. The Balboa bars and frozen bananas are the sugary desserts of choice on the island.
The to-die-for Balboa bar, our favorite over the frozen banana, is a rectangle brick of vanilla ice cream that's dunked in hot chocolate and then rolled in your choice of toppings. The frozen banana—something with which Arrested Development fans are familiar, but alas, there's no banana-shaped stand—is your choice of a small or big fruit that's also dipped in chocolate and then coated with toppings.
