Beach Spectacular: Cape Arundel Classic's Fearsome Foursome

Who says Maine can't hang with our beach spectacular big boys? Our Maine summer spies reported in this morning with our first tip of the summer, and it is tip-worthy for sure:

Today was the annual George Bush Cape Arundel Classic where "41" (aka G. Bush Senior) invites a bunch of foursomes to play golf for a good cause. The first foursome of the morning: Jim Nantz, Tom Brady, 41, and Bill Clinton. Everyone got off the tee clean, but Nantz, who took a mulligan. 41 and Bubba used a driver, while Brady outdrove them all with an iron shot down the middle of the fairway. Clinton was incredulous and made Brady rehit with a driver, which he promptly duffed into the woods.

Funny thing is most folks thought Bubba would not be invited back this year after last years antics. Reports were that Clinton, who played with 41 last year as well, was dropping balls at will as soon as he was out eyeshot and while his foursome swears he shot over 100, easy, he turned in a scorecard showing a "78". Needless to say 41 was not pleased with these antics. Will try to find out what he "shoots" this year, but he is off to a good, clean start.

The tourney, which raises money for Gary's House in Portland, is taking place at the Cape Aurendel Golf Club today. Most folks are staying up the road at the Colony Hotel. Oh, and rumor has it Tom Brady and Bridget Moynihan will be staying at the Walker's Point guest house. Wonder if Barbara will let them sleep in the same bed.
